Juan Buitron
CFO and Development Executive

Before joining Phase 2 Pictures, I began my film career as an on-screen Extra and off-screen Production Assistant for studio blockbusters that visited Chicago, like Chain Reaction (1996), Hoodlum (1997), and Mercury Rising (1998).  In 1999,  I served as 1st Assistant Director for Condne Films’ Blessings from the Food Court.  In 2000, Chris Onagan and John Vanis joined me to produce my first feature-length script, Everyday (2001, 2021).  Shortly thereafter, I co-produced John Vanis’ directorial debut for the trailer of his feature-length script Redemption (2001).  I then teamed up with Chris Onagan to co-produce and act for his short film Ladies First (2003) and later co-produced his stand-up comedy special Laugh it Up, Chicago! (2005).  Chris then offered another opportunity for me to act in a small, supporting cast role for the film Road Kill (2008).

Chris Onagan
CEO and Studio Executive

I was introduced to John & Juan on the set of Blessings from the Food Court (1999). Before long (and long hours) we became fast friends through our dedication to the craft. It wasn’t until joining them on the set of Everyday (2001) it really started clicking that film was becoming a passion. From there I partnered with John in writing my first short film Ladies First (2003), directing and producing a live comedy special Laugh it Up, Chicago! (2005). In 2005 also became a co-founder in Vendetta Pictures, Inc. which produced feature films Get Pony Boy (2005) and Road Kill (2008).

John Vanis
COO and Production Executive

I began my film career as a boom operator on Blessings from the Food Court (1999). That is where I worked with Juan (Carlos Buitron) and Chris (Onagan) for the first time. From there, we went on to help Juan make his feature film Everyday (2001). I was his associate producer, assistant director and aided him in some of the writing. I, too, have written several scripts and have many others in various stages of development.
